
Brenda's: Sumptuous Squash Winter Harvest
Did you know that squash is native to the Americas? It is thought to be the first food cultivated by Native American Indians, squash, along with beans and corn, is part of the Indian triad of the three most important food staples. Who knew?
Over the years many have revered squash for it's healthful and nutritious qualities. Today this most interesting vegetable is known primarily for it's status as a comfort food and for it's great versatility in the kitchen. Not many vegetables are great cooked savory or sweet, roasted or grilled, baked into bread or even a dessert. Squash truly is a magnificent vegetable, and so on the 28th the plan is to celebrate all things squash~ yummy!
