Hello Ladies of the Cooking Club!
This-Months-Theme: "J'aime Paris"or "I love Paris"
It's time to Broil, Bake and Bond! :) I thought I might start off choosing the concept for our first meeting...and figured a menu compiled of Parisian foods would be a nice start to our new Cooking Club...The French know their cooking!
Here are my (many) thoughts on organization:
1. Choosing the Theme
-Each member takes a turn picking the monthly theme. (Alphabetically by first name?)
-Brenda you would be next in line and can announce our next theme on March 14th during "J'aime Paris".
-Be creative with your theme and it's title...it could really be anything related to food, ethnic or otherwise.
-If possible bring a CD of music and any props. that you like, these will help bring us closer to the theme of the evenings food! ;)
2. Choosing something to make
-Once you have secured your category such as "Side Dish", you can take days to pick your recipe. (Tip: think seasonally)
-Eventually, please enter the name of your recipe on the Evite. (Will prevent double-dishing)
Note: Good on-line recipe resources...

3. Your recipe
-Please write your recipe down and bring it along. (Include the method)
-I will collect these recipes and take a digital photo of your dish.
-IDEA: "Cooking Club Cookbook"
After compiling all recipes & digital photos of food, we can choose our favorites and have them made into a cookbook. -Don't worry about food stains, include little sketches and notes etc. on your recipe card/paper...it will add character to our cookbook!
4. Timing your arrival
-Please try to arrive by 6pm at the latest.
-If you want to come and do the final preparations on your dish at my house, you may want to arrive earlier.
-Say your recipe calls for homemade pastry and you've never made it before...come early, bring your ingredients & we can do it together.
-If we start eating by 6:30ish we'll have lots of time to relax and enjoy the meal.
5. What about guests?
-Well I think we should each have the opportunity to invite a friend to our Cooking Club get-togethers.
-Maybe as it is your turn to choose the theme you also can choose a friend BUT they would have to take part and make something to bring along...don't ya think?!
-We can comfortably fit 8 people around my table, so if someone is unable to attend a get-together then we could fill up that seat with a friend of another member as well.
-Maybe one night we could invite each of our "significant others" to enjoy all of our hard work...it would be cozy but that's fine! :)
6. Choosing the next date
-We can choose next months date at each get-together...so, have your day-timers handy!
Whew! OK, well I know that was rather long-winded but I just kept coming up with more ideas!
Please let me know if you have anything to add, or have any questions! :)
